One Layer Card

This one was really a challenge for me!  I've decided that I really have no idea as to how to go about a one layered card.  It took weeks of thinking about how I was going to approach it and I'm still not really happy with the end result.

Christmas with a hint of purple!

I have had this background paper and didn't really know how I was going to work it in with an image.  Decided that since it was mainly cream that it worked well when I was trying to incorporate a non-traditional colour:

Mango Snowman

Our local paper and craft shop closed down at the weekend and had products really cheap.  SOme were from their classroom area and others were new.  I got three tubes of Kaisercraft paint for $1 per tube (brand new too!) and was keen to use them.  I managed to use one of them on this card:

Blue Christmas Tree

I seem to love creating Christmas cards with a blue colour scheme - although I did add some yellow to this one!

This is the sketch I followed:

Where are Santa's reindeer?

I don't think he can find them as he has resorted to using a hot air balloon!

Blue Snowman

I quite liking creating Christmas cards with a blue colour scheme.  I suppose it is because blue falls in the cool colour range and Christmas images are often snow based!

I am entering my card into these challenges:

Cheerleader

I'm back home after two weeks away.  Glad to have the break but have missed having reliable internet connections.  I missed a few challenge deadlines with the erratic internet I was working from.

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Eureka Stamps - Sports
http://eurekastamps.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/eureka-stamps-challenge-98-sports-theme.html

I have used a paper from Kaisercraft for the background of the card.  The lace is from Sullivans and the flower with the pearls in the centre is a ribbon flower (not sure of the source).  The image is from Eureka Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers to match the background.  I matted with some silver metallic paper and then added a couple of green pearls to the right corners.

Starts With C

The final challenge!  I always knew that I was going to be tight on time for this one as I thought I had to use the Friday Freebie image and hadn't selected another image to take with me on holiday!  I decided to use that image when I got home as I had an idea immediately for it:

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Catch The Bug - Starts with C (cane)
http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/christmas-in-july-week-long.html

I have used a background paper from DCWV for this card.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and is the Friday Freebie from 18th July.  I used the sentiment that came with this image on another card!  I coloured her dress to match the candy cane paper using copic markers.  I matted with red cardstock.  I also used some candy striped twine on the right side of the card and tied a bow.

Photo Inspiration

The penultimate challenge - Number Six!  This time a photo is supplied for inspiration.  Here is my take on that photo:

Catch The Bug - Photo Inspiration
http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/christmas-in-july-week-long.html

When I was looking for a paper for this card, I came across this one by MME which had the words "making spirits bright" which I felt went well with the drink in the image!  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and is one of the Tropical Santa series.  I coloured with copic markers and added Glossy Accents and Stickles then matted with red cardstock.  I also added some Glossy Accents to three of the diamonds on the top row and then added three glittery domes to the lower left of the card.

BINGO Challenge

Challenge Five is a bit of a double banger - BINGO plus Make it Funny.  In the limited time frame I had to work with on this one, I found this one a bit more of a challenge!

I am entering my card into these challenges:
Catch The Bug - BINGO Challenge + Make It Funny
http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/christmas-in-july-week-long.html

My BINGO line is - Funny Sentiment + Player's Choice (use ovals) + snowflake

I have used a patterned paper from DCWV for the background.  I highlighted three of the stockings with Stickles plus two of the sweets with tiny pearls.  The image and sentiment are from Bugaboo Stamps.  I matted with red cardstock and coloured with copic markers with the addition of some Stickles.  I die-cut a snowflake using a Spellbinder die and then embellished the die-cut with a pearl.

Recipe Challenge

Challenge Four is a Recipe Challenge - Kraft + Embossing + Snowflake.

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
Catch The Bug - Recipe Challenge
http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/christmas-in-july-week-long.html

I have used an embossing folder and plain kraft cardstock from a paper pad to create the background.  I die-cut a snowflake frame using glitter cardstock from DCWV and Frostyville Frame from Memory Box.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and has been coloured using copic markers and Stickles.
